Project Twitch: Maya in a Web Browser

Posted by mogkc, 2 February 2010 1:51 am

Project Twitch is something exciting that we're previewing on Autodesk Labs: Maya in a web browser.

What's exciting about that? Well, first off, this is a way that you can try Maya out without the hassle of downloading and installing the software.

Beyond that, this opens up ways that you may use software in the future:

  • What if you only needed to use some software for a few days?
  • What if you needed to let others use your proprietary pipeline tools and didn't want to let the tools leave your control?
  • What if you were away from work and an emergency came up that required you to login and do some work?

These are just some ideas. We would love to hear what you think about them and Project Twitch.

Yeah it's just the U.S at the moment, no luck for the rest of the world

we're looking at options for expanding the service and other ways to improve it - feedback is most welcome.

The immediate goal is really around exploring the feasibility for online trials and making it easier for people to evaluate the software.

People are seeing other possibilities with this technology. Can you share more on how you would like access your own machines? What you would like to be able to do or not do?

What a waste of bandwidth, really imagine everyone working like this. Internet/autodesk server goes down, and you cant show a client, who is in your office, the work they have been paying you to do.
