Hi Everyone,
I hope some of the main features from the past week have got you excited about Smoke 2012. From the feedback in the comments, it definitely looks like we're developing Smoke on the right path. With your continued input we can keep making it better.

And it's not long to go to NAB… Remember that if you can’t join us at the show you can keep in touch through the on-line web streaming during the show…
Right… Today we are going to take a sharp right turn out of Action towards the anticipated FLAME FX!
Flame FX:
2D Transform
Flame FX is a new set of tools that has found its way into Smoke. It brings you quite a bit more creative and technical capabilities inside Smoke, and, because it is part of the 2012 release, you don’t need to add plug-ins to get access to these essential tools. The Flame FX toolset is based on what you asked for, ranging from creative filtering to technical tools.
2D Transform by definition is about repositioning an image. But please don’t let the tool's name mislead you. There is so much more that it has to offer. With 2D and 3D transformations, dynamic filtering, motion blurring and camera shaking – the 2D Transform is a great tool for these primary requirements.

The features shown are applicable to version 2012 of Flame Premium and Smoke (announced not shipping)
Please note that we have announced 2012 but it is not yet shipping. But we're getting even closer week by week!
There are loads more FlameFX tools coming and I hope to cover them in great detail so that you'll know how to use them "right out of the box"
Welcome to all the new people watching the blog and I hope you enjoy your experience with Smoke.
All feedback, requests, comments are always welcome.
That's me for another week and I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Take care where ever you are…
Signing off…
Grant

I will be looking to remake XML conforming for 2012 soon and I'll probably do separate ones for RED and QuickTime media. As for other media sources such as mobile, youtube or DVD - I would suggest converting them first to a workable intermediate format such as ProRes. This means that FCP will be happier and conforming in Smoke will work with the supported format.
