Hi Everyone
I hope that you are all well and I am sure that you gathered that I have been really busy in the background working on the new Smoke 2013 Tutorials.
I have also spent a bit of time rebranding the look of the Smoke Learning Channel and I hope you like it!
Just in case you didn't see Marc-André's previous announcement, the new Smoke is coming, and you can get a head start by checking out my new video tutorials on Smoke Learning Channel.
Since NAB I’ve had my nose to the grindstone creating an extensive series of all-new videos to help people get up to speed fast on the revolutionary new Smoke. Starting today you’ll find new tutorials that cover the basics of Smoke from creating projects to importing media all the way though timeline editing.
All comments, feedback and requests are always appreciated
Regards
Grant

Obviously the initial video for installing Smoke is not available yet.
I will be testing from a late 2011 17" MacBook Pro with SSD.
Regarding the Smoke Database can you tell me do I need to get an external thunderbolt disk - or are people using the MacBook Pro's disks itself?
Can the main Smoke database be changed once installation is done to another location? If it can then that would accommodate getting started on the laptop for everything and then swapping to a fast external disk.
Thanks for the time Grant.
Great job on the training - excellently put together.

The install video will be available soon with the Pre-Release Trial launch. I do believe in the video it says that you should use an external hard drive. I am using a Mid 2010 !7-inch Macbook Pro with a Firewire 800 drive and it is workable. Secondly, you will need to tell Spotlight not to index the disk as this will impact performance. All is explained in the installation video.
As far as the Pre-Release Trial goes, I believe that once it is installed, the database cannot be relocated. Unsure if this is permanent for the Pre-Release but I can't make any promises.

Grant
