I encourage you to sign up for my upcoming Webcast on the Architectural Resource Center. On Wednesday August 12th, we’ll explore “Creating Artistic Renderings in Autodesk 3ds Max Design”.  We’ll spend an hour creating what some call NPRs (Non-Photorealistic Renderings). This one hour session will investigate material and rendering techniques that will help you create images that convey design ideas and concepts without the “distractions” of photoreal elements. Anyone that has been in the Visualization game knows that images that are “too real” too early can confuse inexperienced customers. I’ll never forget a customer that told me,”The bricks are to red”.  It was the first time we were showing them the building shape. The PA explained we were just showing a “generic” brick pattern. After an hour of discussion, they still commented a concern for the red brick.
So here are the techniques for a new approach.
For those of you who are new to Design Visualization Webcast Series, we’ve been doing these for over a year now. Check out the Archive section to see the other topics we’ve explored and of course sign up for the sessions that interest you on the upcoming schedule.
