Rob O'Neill and Nicky Liddell will show how the powerful creative tool set of Autodesk Smoke 2013 was used to finish budget-conscious retail commercials for Opel and Bayer.
This is a video tutorial focusing on short cuts and hot keys used while creating a rough cut and creative edit in Smoke 2013. Using menus and buttons to perform edits, trims, etc works but I feel it is a slow workflow and decreases your creative flow while you are trying to tell your story with your creative edit. Knowing the short cuts and performing dynamic edits will make you a more efficient editor. I also discuss workflow and tips about Smoke 2013 and it’s UI. The entire duration of the tutorial is about 1 1/2 hours but I have broken the tutorial into 12 videos with the longest video being 13 minutes. I recommend watching all of them in a row if possible and then later revisiting them as needed. Just for reference I was using Smoke 2013 Pre-Release 5 during the capturing of this tutorial. I hope you enjoy them and learn from them. Ken LaRue
IBC 2012 was a great success for Autodesk and Smoke 2013 was a big hit at the convention and at the SuperMeet Sunday Night. Plus I have a challenge for you. If you want to learn how to use Smoke to pull a great key even from some really bad green screen footage here is a way to do just that and have fun! Check out the Scruffy Smoke challenge.
