Brushed metal looks different in 3ds Max 2012 SP2

With 3ds Max 2012 SP2 the Arch & Design preset Brushed Metal looks like it used to in 3ds Max 2011, but is very different from how it looked without SP2 installed.

An attempt at getting the look from before SP2 without uninstalling SP2:

  • set Glossiness to 1.0
  • lower the Anisotropy to 0.011

Hi SuperCoon, it's back to how it worked in 3ds Max 2011 (incorrect behaviour can get fixed in Service Packs / Hotfixes).

you don't know HOW LONG this has been torturing me! i didnt know why my work computer was rendering differently from the rest of the renderfarm , and in my work i deal ONLY with brushed metals!!!!

Hi aga_glanza, we do recommend that you make sure the installs of your render farm match those of your workstations: same 3ds Max version, same service pack/same hotfix, same plugins etc. That way you're sure that you get the same results when using the render farm.
