Some mesh operations can take longer in 3ds Max 2014 and later, here is a quick solution

The default final gather algorithm uses a lot of memory, that may be a problem if it need a lot more than the available physical memory
This series of videos will be focused around Extension 1 for 3ds Max 2015. First, we will use the new OpenSubDiv modifier to easily and quickly create realistic models. Then, we'll take those models and bring them inside Maya 2015 and, with the Bifrost engine, create realistic fluid simulations. Those simulations will then be brought back inside 3ds Max 2015 via the new support for Alembic file format in Extension 1.
