While I was out of the office last week the team was busy cranking away at releasing another Hotfix patch for the 2011 release. This makes for number 4 for the year so far and our goal is to continue being as responsive as possible to critical customer issues.

HF4 includes the following new fixes and all previously released fixes in the Service Pack 1 and subsequent Hotfix releases. and for the first time we released all supported languages simultaneously!

As always make sure you download the correct installer for the flavor of product you are using:

Hotfix 4 – Autodesk 3ds Max 2011

Hotfix 4 – Autodesk 3ds Max Design 2011

Seems like its hard to fix slow rotation in viewport. 4 hotfixes and 1 service pack. Hopefully they can fix it in service pack 15.

for most updating to the latest Nvidia driver and installing the NVIDIA® 3ds Max Performance Driver will solve the issue with shuttering in the viewport.

We are however still actively trying to fix additional viewport performance problems. If there was an easy fix it would have been solved by now, but its a very complex problem between changes in the OS, graphics driver, and the 3ds Max D3D code. Nvidia is testing a new beta driver that improves this for some, but it has been isolate to a change in the OS so other graphic card manufactures will need to workaround this issue in their drivers also.

Are these hotfixes available anywhere outside this blog? I rarely check here, but have been eagerly awaiting some patches. I was surprised to find out that 4 have been released. I was not able to find them in my subscription center... which is where I would expect them to be. Where is the "go-to" place for fixes these days?

You can subscribe to the Support RSS feed off of our main product center page on .com or enable the communication center feature within the product. I recommend both and use the communication center to subscribe to the rss feed.

The first hot fix for 2011 fixed that issue. If you install HF 4 it will include that fix.
