I'm writing this from Amsterdam where we are currently presenting our products at IBC. If you ever wondered what flame, Smoke and Lustre do and why they they are so popular this is your chance to find out Our booth demos are being streamed live every day.
Today the User Group videos just went live on the siggraph page. For those of you that didn't make it to siggraph and also missed the live stream you can check it out now.
It seems some scientists have come up with an algorithum that can use two digital camera images, one taken with flash and one without, to extract high quality depth maps.
Siggraph is over and what a ride it was. Ultimately I think a good time was had by all. I hope a lot of you that didn't make it to the show had a chance to check out the live streams on AREA. If not my current task is to take the high res captures of everything we did and post them up on the AREA.
Its only a couple weeks away and Autodesk is very busy this year. Even if you won't actually be in LA this year come to the AREA to see live video of our events as they happen.
I've seen this question a lot on the AREA and thought I would point everyone to a resource on Autodesk.com that can tell you the answer to what hardware is tested with 3ds Max and Maya.
For those of you that have upgraded to firefox 3 I just wanted to let you know that AREA currently doesn't officially support it. We have every intention to do so but right now there are too many bugs in this release. Once a few service packs have come out we will re-assess.
Just a heads up that Louis has complete moving all his backlog of 3ds max tips videos to the AREA.
In just a few weeks we will begin editing our latest and greatest Siggraph show reel. This reel is a who's who of companies doing fantastic cg work with Autodesk products. Don't miss your chance to be included...
A long time ago I wrote a post about one of our resident Max guru Louis Marcoux. He had created his own website and filled it with tones of video tutorials for 3ds Max. Well now he is on the AREA. This is one set of pages any max user should bookmark.
