Sean you should go interview James Camereon and Lightstorm for what theyre doing with Avatar. Its right along the lines of what your theme is for this blog post but from what I am told they've taken it a few steps further (and of course they utilize Autodesk products).

Really great stuff. I got this same idea for puppeteering right from the day I watched siggraph 08 motion builder presentation. I can remember those guys making fun of Shaun in the mocap suit in the end of the MB presentation. And the gigantic Marc Petit trying getting Mr. Hendriks pwned in the virtual set! LOL. I laughed so hard seeing everyone was laughing as hard as me. Wow.. I just love that moment. We love you Mr. Hendriks!
