With the release of Maya 2013 Extension you will now be able to boot Maya into a DX11 display mode. This will allow you to run DX11 (with HLSL shaders) directly in Viewport 2.0. Check out this short demo showing the various types of shader effects that can be created with the new HLSL-based UberShader.
