The Maya Open Data initiative is about providing tools, functionality and workflows that facilitate the management of complex scenes, parallel pipelines and custom data. As part of this initiative, Scene Assembly was initially implemented in Maya 2013 Extension Release, and expanded in Maya 2014 to support character workflows.

There are some new features available in Maya 2013 that may change how you use the Attribute Editor. With Custom Attribute Editor Attribute Views, you can use template files to customize the Attribute Editor for specific tasks, projects or artist type.
The Maya Layout Tools resource page is a centralized location for all things related to LayoutTools. LayoutTools is a toolset that is widely used for basic layout and assembly of objects within a scene (e.g. assembling game levels, laying out sets, building out architectural spaces, populating environments with objects, etc...)
