Well... we're a week removed from Siggraph in New Orleans and I'm just about back to normal. It was
fun, but exhausting. Sadly it took my tired, old body a full weekend to recover! I think it was worth it though and I'm pretty sure I'd do it all over again
:)
So now for some more useful information...
At the show we announced and demo'd Mudbox2010. I had created a Maya <-> Mudbox workflow demo a few
months back, but I decided to update it for Siggraph in order to show some new features. Here's the character that I created for the demo rendered out of the Mudbox
viewport
Below is the first part of a four part series. It's less about techniques and more about general
workflow. Part 1 mostly covers the Maya side. For those of you Maya users that want to learn a little more about Mudbox there will be future posts covering hi-res
sculpting, texture painting and texture extraction.
This next movie is just a short addendum that I added to show a couple of extra things supported within
FBX.
On a related note... part of the big news with Mudbox2010 is the addition of a new API for creating
plugins. Wayne Robsons already created a new plugin for 1 click transfer of meshes between Mudbox and Maya as well as various other tools.called ->
