Andrew Livingston Biography
Andy Livingston
Position:
Environment Artist
Company:
Luxoflux studios
My name is Andy Livingston and I'm an Environment Artist for Luxoflux studios. I'm currently working on the
Transformers 2 video game which will be available Summer 2009. Since I've been at Luxoflux I've also had the
privilege of working on Kung Fu Panda, which released with great reviews this past summer.
Before Luxoflux I started out at Sony Online Entertainment, working on several different expansions for EverQuest. I fell in love
with game development my senior year at Brigham Young University, then went on to the Art
Institute of California in San Diego to earn a degree in Game
Art. The hard work paid off as I got picked up right away doing what I loved - making games.
As an Environment Artist I'm lucky enough get to do a lot of different things. Sometimes I'll pound out a prop from start to finish from a piece of concept art, or figure out how
to blow something up. Other times I'll assemble all the pieces together to create a level. Game creation is an extremely iterative process; it takes lots of feedback and tweaking.
Of course, I always work closely with the Art Director and Leads. Quite often I get to work with Engineers in developing new technology to make the game creation process easier
and faster.
