Built for today’s visual effects artists and supervisors, Autodesk® Flame® Premium 2014 software combines over twenty years of trusted production-proven tools with a redesigned, more holistic and intuitive workflow to provide a more comprehensive visual effects, color grading, and editorial finishing solution.
Flame Premium 2014 fully integrates the 3D visual effects capabilities of Autodesk® Flame® software with the editorial toolset of Autodesk® Smoke® Advanced software, and combines this new creative workflow with easy access to the real-time color grading capabilities of Autodesk® Lustre® software. In addition, Flame Premium 2014 features new creative tools, Lustre grading enhancements, timeline performance improvements, and customer-requested usability updates.
The redesigned visual effects and editorial workflow of Flame Premium 2014 gives artists working on demanding projects more creative control than ever before. A more integrated creative workspace effectively unites the powerful Flame desktop, timeline, and Batch at the uppermost level of the interface. With a fully integrated editorial and effects timeline, you can easily build a new timeline from scratch or match offline cuts, without leaving the Flame desktop.
Flame Premium 2014 brings you the tools you know and trust, but with faster and more creative control than ever before. Flame Premium 2014 combines the full Batch and Action creative toolset with the timeline workflow of Smoke Advanced, bringing these vital tools into a more integrated, intuitive, and efficient workflow. Action, Batch, and the timeline have also been enhanced with the addition of Reactor, a new 16-bit floating point graphics processing unit (GPU) pipeline that improves interactivity and playback performance, as well as enables the direct conversion of timeline compositions into Batch trees with identical visual results.
Flame Premium 2014 supports multi-layer warping of surfaces in 3D while in Action, enabling artists to solve a greater range of creative challenges than ever before.
A new image surface model provides more control over the vertices of surfaces, as well as access to associated UV points within the texture space. A single surface type for bicubic and extended bicubic surfaces enables you to subdivide or merge surface meshes and reposition meshes on specific features within an image while a new perspective surface enables simple 4-corner perspective transformations and UV points to further refine your look. When combined with powerful Flame creative tools such as gmasks, diffuse maps, and atomize, 3D warping provides better precision and more creative possibilities.
Flame Premium 2014 provides a new offset reference mode in the Stabilizer to help track challenging elements such as those that go off screen or are occluded during the analyze process. You can also use an offset reference point to track regions with insufficient reference detail, track forwards and backwards, and easily reposition reference points during an analyze process for greater accuracy.
Flame Premium 2014 simplifies your media management tasks by consolidating the tools into a central location. From the new MediaHub, you can browse supported media, search, organize, simultaneously export multiple files, resize and apply lookup tables (LUTs) to files on import, apply presets, and much more. The associated media panel is integrated into the creative workspace and provides one click access to a customizable and searchable folder structure so you can more easily browse, import, and move project media through the creative process.

Flame Premium 2014 consolidates a wide variety of conform and troubleshooting tools into a single, task-based area, to help you quickly conform timelines and resolve important issues. With tighter integration between the timeline, event list, player, and the media panel, you can relink faster, troubleshoot more effectively, and aggregate final timelines more efficiently.

Today’s projects typically rely on a wide variety of digital cameras to get the job done. When blending the resulting material into a final story, however, artists are forced to deal with different, often incompatible color spaces. Flame Premium 2014 provides the ability to convert material to the consistent Academy Color Encoding System (ACES) color space, reducing the need for preliminary color correction to compensate for image differences between film, digital cameras, and CG media. Simply put, you can now import material into a color space where you can visualize it correctly.
Flame Premium 2014 offers enhanced real-time color grading capabilities and easier access to Academy Award-winning Autodesk Lustre software. Lustre ShotReactor background rendering provides faster processing by automatically detecting changes on a shot-by-shot basis, helping maintain top performance and interactivity during grading sessions. Enhanced Color Decision List (CDL) support enables sequences conformed in Flame or Smoke to be imported into Lustre with ASC CDL information, preserving the data containing the look established in dailies through to the finishing process, bringing onset, creative editorial, conforming, visual effects, and grading together in a more efficient workflow.
Flame Premium artists can move more easily between Flame for 3D visual effects and Lustre for real-time color grading, working more quickly on projects that require grading and visual effects.
