I’m fairly new to 3ds MAX, presently working on training project, depicting my study. Run to the problem: material editor has only 24 slots, and I need more… Tried help and Google to no avail...Also will be interested to hear critique - but mind, I’ve just get started.
Thanks.

Covered in the help and in multiple threads on these forums.

Important While the Material Editor can edit no more than 24 materials at a time, a scene can contain an unlimited number of materials. When you are through editing one material, and have applied it to objects in the scene, you can use that sample slot to get a different material from the scene (or create a new one) and then edit it.

Removing a material from the editor does not remove it from the scene - if you need to edit it again later just use the “get material from scene” button.

The Highlight your work is a more appropriate place to ask for “crits”.

Thanks, Steve. Must be my “blind spot” - now I can see it in Help…
