Bound Hose won't motion blur with mental ray

If you have a Hose object that is Bound to Object Pivots, and render it with mental ray, it will not motion blur. I noticed this in MAX 2008 when animating the Trams for Edinburgh. I used hoses for the bendy bits in between sections. I didn’t find a fix for it at the time, other than using Camera Multi-Pass Effect (too slow).
It’s not all bad though. I just dicovered that it can be easily fixed by adding a Turn to Mesh modifier onto the Hose.
