I’m using Vista 64 bit with 3dsmax 32bit.
this happens both in max 2008 and max 2009.

When I render an image, save it from the rendered frame window, click on an existing filename (ie: image01.jpg), edit the name to image02.jpg (by changing the 1 to a 2), click save. my image01.jpg gets overwritten and the new name is ignored. I then have to close the save window and start again.
the onyl way to save a file by editing a previous file name is by clicking once in the name box, waiting for a list to pop up, selecting a file name from there, waiting for it to appear in the name bos and editing it, OR typing it from scratch, which is EXTREMELY TEDIOUS!

As with so many things with max, it worked perfectly well before. someone obviously thought that was not within the spriti of autodesk and went and broke it.
This is not because of windows vista since no other program (like photoshop for example) has this problem.

A similar problem is when editing map paths using the (tedious) bitmap path editor. If you click on copy files, select a path, all your files will be copied on the folder above the selected path (ie: C:\job\maps selected will end up with all files copied to C:\job\) same thing happens when changing map paths.

The question is does any one know of any workaround for any this?

Many thanks

Fabrice
