Hi,

I think I’ve found a bug in Max 2009 64 bit. Steps to recreate:
1. From the file menu select ‘View Image File...’
2. Select an RPF file you know to have a Z-Depth element.
3. In the frame buffer change viewing mode from RGB Alpha to Z Depth.
4. Max crashes.
Can anyone else reproduce this?

Dan

Unfortunately no - for the simple reason that I don’t have a single *.rpf file on my entire system to try it!

Could you possibly provide a sample file - then I’ll be happy to try it.

Max 4.2 through 2013.
XP-64 (SP2)
NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX9.0c.

Thanks for the reply Steve.

Yes I can supply an RPF but I’m going to have to put it on our ftp site as the ones I’m working with are 26 Mb and the attachment limit on here is set to 3.5 Mb.

Off to find IT guy.....

Any old .rpf should suffice? Anyone else reading this got a small-ish one lying around? (to save you needing to involve the IT dept.)

Oopsie…

Max8 - works
Max9 (32bit and 64bit) - works
Max2008 (32bit and 64bit) - fails
Max2009 (not design, 32bit and 64bit) - fails.

ps. Shouldn’t you be a Voxel Vectra by now? :D

Right, so that confirms what I’d found 2008 and 2009 both broken but still works with Max 9 32 bit. I’ll add it to the sticky thread.

Ha, I thought no one would get it! Having said that you’re from the West Midlands, an area steeped in British automotive history ;-)

Thanks for checking the RPF problem,

Dan

A definite candidate for the “bugs thread” - don’t forget to link back to this one.

What I would (and will) do is to let it crash and then fill out the “crash report” in each version (once I can convince my firewall to temporarily allow IE to access the net - I blocked it 5 mins after installing XP). You could also fill out a Defect Report Submission Form.

Back in the day we actually HAD an automotive industry…
