I have been playing around with materials but need more materials boxes.
Is only 24 material as given it, or is there another way of adding more boxes rather then the 24 materials?
I understand you can add maps over one another and change the channel to correlate with image desire but was wondering if there is another way to add more material boxes rather then the maps over one another in one material box?
Please help much appreciated. [/color]

Firstly - please remove the colour tags from your post - for those of us using the “Light” theme on these forums that text is completely unreadable.
You can only have 24 materials in the editor at any one time, but you can re-use each slot by simply clicking the “eyedropper” button and selecting from the scene, or by using the Material Browser and in the “browse from” section select “Scene”. Once a mterial is in the scene it does not have to remain in the editor.
This is covered in some detail in the help. Unfortunately you didn’t tell us which version of Max (put this in your sig please, it saves us having to keep asking), but if you search for “Sample Slots” in the main Help you will find it.
It also pays to search these forums before posting - searching just this one forum finds at least 2 threads asking exactly the same question.
