any way to click a point and move it rather then click it and then move it

Select the object then right-click on the Move tool; this brings up the Move Transform Type-In dialogue.

I think what you’re looking for is the option: “Click drag select” in
Window > Settings Preferences > Preferences… (look under the Selection tab)
