Hello,

We can no longer create a Fbx_Root when exporting a skeleton from Max2009 to MoBu 7.5. Ok, but things are going pretty weird now.

Just try this :
- Create a Dummy in Max other than Max 2009. Max 8 for ex. Put its rotation to (0,0,0) in World axis.
- Export to fbx (without creating a fbx_root).
- In MoBu, have a look at the orientation. In Global as well as local, you get (0,0,0). Logical.

- Now, do create a Dummy in Max 2009. Put the rotation to (0,0,0) in world.
- Export to fbx.
- Now have a look at the orientation in MoBu. (-90,0,0) in Global ? and (0,0,0) in local ?? hum. There is no parenting, no fbx_root generated in the scene. The dummy is in some words its own parent.

Has someone encountered this problem ? Do you know if Autodesk has ever talked about it ?

another weird bug with that fbx exporter here : http://area.autodesk.com/for...009-to-motion-builder-75/

Hi Mlle ,

I’ve checked your first issue , On my side when using fbx 2009.3 with max 2009 .
I ‘ve exported a biped and imported in Motion Builder 7.5 , well, I get something
called a Bip01 Footsteps which to me, seems to be the equivalent of a reference. I’m not to sure thats what you
were looking for , but , let me know if not.

For the second issue , I did the repro steps you gave ,
and , with Max 8 I’ve used the latest plugin which is fbx 2006.11.2.
I end up with the same outcome than you . Ummm.... , I was thinking maybe , well I’m pretty sure its got
something to do with the fact that Max has Z up and motion builder Y up.
Its like if Motion Builder took in consideration the change of orientation in a world or global space .

I will look at the other issue you have , and see if I can come up with anything for you.
Hope that hepled! :)

Cheers

MC
