Rant on:

Rant one: why doesn’t search function work? I complained about this years ago when the area first opened. Example: Go to the 3Ds Max forum, type “fur” in the search field… wait… wait… NOTHING! Now type “hair"… wait… wait… LOTS OF HITS! Now look at the headers in those search results.... How many times do you see the word “fur” in the headers???

Rant two: Why is the search box at the top of the page in major sections and at the bottom of the page in topic sections? Is Autodesk intent on ignoring ALL UI conventions, or are they just doing that in 2010 Design?

Now I remember why I rarely come here looking for answers.

Rant off.

Graham

PS. My apologies to all the hard working people who put so much effort into answering questions. You guys rock. It’s the frustration I get coming here looking for question topics that I know must already be answered that makes me crazy!

Try using google.
“site:area.autodesk.com fur” - Results 1 - 20 of about 613 from http://area.autodesk.com for fur. (0.53 seconds)

Problem is it’s from the whole site including blogs, but it does at least find them.

Steve,

Thanks! I didn’t know you could do that. It’s a shame the search engine on the site is so poor that you have to go to google to search it.

Thanks again.

I´ve been using google for a while to search inside forums instead using forum’ search engine, it’s great tip and work

I actually use the built in search more than google, I only resort to google if the site won’t find something I know for certain is there.
