You’ve tried 3 different browsers - all 3 give the same results. That pretty much rules out “browser incompatibility” as the cause. Make sure that this site is “whitelisted” for 1st party cookies and that Javascript is allowed though, it does need them.
What you’re left with is your system and your ‘net connection (ISP).
Check everything which interacts in any way with your connection. Firewall for starters. Antivirus / antipyware / antispam - these all function as proxies and if incorrectly configured can cause all manner of difficult to diagnose problems. Temporarily disable them (not the firewall though, unless you’re behind a NAT router) and retest. If you are behind a router, check its settings as well.
Finally, your ISP. Some still use “transparent proxies”. Those with any sense have stopped using them because of the problems they cause, some have not yet “seen the light” and persist in using them. Try (if possible) connecting to a different ISP (take your PC to a friends house for example). If everything works as expected there then you at least know the cause.
This site has hundreds of thousands of registered users - if the site was at fault there would be many more complaints than there are. I’m not saying the site is perfect, it isn’t, but it is unlikely in the extreme that there is a coding fault which affects so few users.

Well sometimes it’s as complicated as Steve mentioned, and… sometimes its not - I have tried this on FF2.0.015 and IE 6,7 - Enter something for the NON-REQUIRED field ‘IRC Nick’ and it updates fine :P Go figure.
