Surely the release of a new Hotfix qualifies as “News”. Shouldn’t these have been posted in Area Announcements and News and Announcements ?

This hotfix resolves two problems. The Outline function was not working on lines created with more than two vertices. Biped Figure Mode files (.fig) were possibly being corrupted.

This hotfix resolves two problems with Biped: the potential corruption of Figure Mode (.fig) files and internal duplication of Copy & Paste files which could cause file size to grow unneccessarily. See the readme file for more information.
This hot fix is cumulative and contains all previous hot fixes including all SP2 content.

Note. Thanks to Josef Wienerroither for posting this in this thread.

This kind of thing is unacceptable! There are fixes for broken software but the company doesn’t mention it to their customers???? The News section was never used in the last forum and it looks like it’s going to be the same story on this one. Why not replace it with something useful ?

Thanks Josef! Maybe I should just send my subscription money to you instead of Autodesk...at least you’re helping everyone out!

AUTODESK!...ARE YOU LISTENING??? You’re attitude toward your customers is shameful.

i have to admit that i see my patience with this forum slowly disappear too
there are many noname-newbie requests for help, only a handfull of longtime contributers
and of course it totally lacks the spirit of the old pre-area board....

and ADESK’s commitment seem to be gone into the sewer too…
what is this HUGE company doing all the day ?
got everyone hiding behind his/her LCD Panel in ADESKS open-plan office ?
only waiting that the working hours pass by ?

i’d call this a huge uninspired, unmotivated, clueless operating attitute where the left hand
doesn’t care what the right hand is doing....

end of rant

What is much more worrying is that I didn’t get an email notification from AME that these hotfixes were available. They kindly reminded me (several times!) that my subscription was due but cba to advise that fixes for some pretty serious problems are available?

I wrote to Autodesk to find out why subscription holders are not notified of software updates:

“I’ve heard that there is an update to max 2008, but I can’t find it here in the subscription center. WHY? Why has there been NO notice of this update??”

and I received this reply:

“Thank you for contacting the Autodesk Business Center.

At this time there have been no updates to Max 2008 products.  You can
keep informed of any new downloads, updates, etc. that become available
through Subscription Center.

I apologize for the misinformation you received, and any inconvenience
this may have caused you.

Thank you for contacting Autodesk.”

I know this is a peer-to-peer forum, but I really think someone from Autodesk should chime in here. I shouldn’t have to hear about upgrades and fixes from anyone but the company I give money to.

You should write back to them giving them the link to the hotfix and asking just what the <insert expletive of choice> they think that is if it’s not an update.

Even better, contact your reseller. Explain in no uncertain terms that this is simply not good enough and that they (the reseller) should be complaining to AME on their customer’s behalf. If everyone reading this thread were to do the same thing then they (AME) might just sit up and take notice. A simple email notification would suffice - they already have our details (products owned and email addresses) - not exactly an onerous task I would have thought.

**Update**
I emailed my reseller after posting the above - they had themselves not been informed that these fixes were available and would be contacting AME regarding this. So get emailing!!!
