Latest update to Area is exactly what’s wrong with Area

Now, to be fair, I am only singling out the Blog’s portion. Mostly because a survey I did recently, I used it as an example of the kind of thing that needs to be updated.

So, my reasoning before was that you had several clicks to get to the info you want to read. Now, some would say that, sure you could customize bookmarks for everything, and minimize the clicks, but multiply that customization by the many websites I use for information, and the numbers quickly get ugly.

Surprisingly, the Area got worse in the last update, how you ask? Well, I would say that (blogs) the first page of blogs is now totally devoid of any information. Did Duncan write a new amazing tutorial? Can’t tell. Need to click on him first. What is the point of having the cool blognames of “Maxed Out” or “Mayalicious”, if your going to have a completely useless category like Software right next to it. Why not have the title of the last post, with the post count or something, so you can at least see if anything is new, instead of software title category.

Extraneous !!! Painful Navigation. Now, I am no web designer to be sure, but I know… I know that it was your goal to improve navigation. So I’m just letting you know, wherever you got your ideas from, your not moving you in the right direction. You need to minimize the clicks people perform to get to the information they want to see. And this is tough, because, we want to see multiple categories of software, ideas and tutorials.

But like I say, this was in particular, a move in the wrong direction.

well what do you know...they had updated the blog navigation that you where talking about...and many updates that reduces the clicks, and increases your info. so i guess there is nothing to complain about now..right?
