Latest Version of AREA is up
|

Hello everyone. At this point you should all be seeing the latest update to AREA. We had to move it to new servers which required redirecting the address which can
take as much as 24 hours for the whole world to see.
Please look the site over and try things and report to this forum any problems you run into. Over the next week we will be fixing all critical and or painful issues that we will
all run across (I am sure there will be a few). After we get through that list we will start addressing smaller usability issues and such.
I also apologize to anyone that got a bunch of weird forum subscription emails over the last couple days. We didn’t mean to spam you and we seem to have that sorted out
now.
As of this morning we have a couple issues to deal with. First is that something with our hosting provider is throttling back our bandwidth so the site is running
slow. hopefully we will have that figured out shortly. Second is that NNTP and IRC are not up and running right now but should be very soon.
Please check out my blog where I have posted a couple videos covering some of the changes on the site.

Hi Shawn!
In the “Discussions” area, to me the function “Edit” does not work. I tried to edit a message but without succeeding. Also I tried first with “Preview Post” and then with
“Submit” but without succeeding. The message remains in writing mode. Some advice?

I’m having some weird login issues. I have seen a couple of instances of the site in the past day where I could login on the left side panel vs the top. If I sign in on the top
I can no longer see my posts I made originally from being logged in at the side panel first.
Hopefully this all makes sense. I also do not have access to the advanced search option. If I click on it the page just refreshes but doesn’t bring up the search options.
One last thing that is probably related, I tried to reset and create a new password with the option after clicking on login from the top page panel. I never received a response
email and couldn’t login from there for over a day. I just kept clicking until I saw the side bar login appear, chose to reset my password and immediately received a new system
generated password. That password would not work on the top panel login option only the side.
Today I was able to sign in to the top panel login with the password I tried to create when resetting, only now my posts are missing.
I’m confused, so sorry if this is confusing.
This occurred on both Firefox and IE8

I really do like the new look of the forum!
I kind of miss the fact that all my posted swf files would open
in a player and not in an HTML page, though it seems to depend on the program
in which I created the swf file as to how it opens on the forum.
There is also no longer a counter to show how many times a file has been downloaded.
I am not getting regular notifications from flagged threads and when I do get a notification the links are not “live”.
And yes, I am getting live links from other forums so it’s not my email settings.

This is a duplicate post due the server not bringing up the web page confirming a post has been submitted successfully,
making one think it still needs to be submitted.

Shawn,
I really like the new site. It runs much faster and looks better. However, I can not access any of my favorites. I had a bunch of tutorials and gallery images saved from
the old site and can not find them. Will the favorites link be added back to the home page? Also, I don’t know if it’s a firefox issue or not, but the my images section of
my profile always comes up blank.
Thanks

I’ve tried several times over the last few weeks to search the forums, and it doesn’t matter what I search for, no results are ever returned, even for terms as simple as “map”
or “sky”. This just about renders the forums useless to me. At work, anyway. I noticed that I don’t have the same issue at home.
Would you have any idea why this would be happenning?
Thanks,
Courtney Cooper

Have you tried loggin out and clearing the browser cache? See if that helps. Otherwise, could you provide which browser you are using and its version number?
Thanks.

Shawn,
Can you look into fixing the code formatting in this new forum? It is currently unreadable, rendering the maxscript and SDK forums less than useful.
Also, The tutorials section of the website doesn’t allow searching or filtering by application, this would be a great feature to add.
Thanks.
