I visit daily and love the content. I do have a request. Is there anyway to actually take the user to the tutorial/feature that was clicked on after logging in? Currently what happens is the sure will click a Tutorial, login, redirect, back to main page without tutorial. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you. Max, for example has 11 shaders, Maya, close to a 100. And even 100 isn't what I would call a huge selection. A better balance and variety among all your programs would be SO nice. I wish the AREA was 'the place' to come to when looking for a texture, material or script. Right now the best places are not the AREA, sorry. The one place Max wins in this department is tutorials and tips. The Tutorial numbers seem pretty equal, but Max has a few more tips. 2) I don't use Max Design, but wouldn't those shaders and plugins listed for Max Regular work for that too? When you do a search for Max Design you get nothing. 3) It would be nice to be able to view areas of the site without having to login. I recently subscribed to some blogs and when I'm reading on a different device, I don't want to have to log in just to watch a tutorial. 4) The Area has always seem sluggish when doing certain things like posting, searching and some page loading in general. Is it a network issue? Do you have mirrors of the site or is it only hosted in Canada? Those are my thoughts for now. On a positive note, I really like the improvements the AREA has made in recent years. The homepage has a nice mix of information and it seems to be keeping up with trends like Twitter, Facebook and Blogs. 2009-11-19T16:48:52+01:00 Latest update to Area is exactly what's wrong with Area http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3d-general/area-website-support-forum/latest-update-to-area-is-exactly-whats-wrong-with-area/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3d-general/area-website-support-forum/latest-update-to-area-is-exactly-whats-wrong-with-area/page-last/#When:15:09:44Z Latest update to Area is exactly what's wrong with Area Now, to be fair, I am only singling out the Blog's portion. Mostly because a survey I did recently, I used it as an example of the kind of thing that needs to be updated. So, my reasoning before was that you had several clicks to get to the info you want to read. Now, some would say that, sure you could customize bookmarks for everything, and minimize the clicks, but multiply that customization by the many websites I use for information, and the numbers quickly get ugly. Surprisingly, the Area got worse in the last update, how you ask? Well, I would say that (blogs) the first page of blogs is now totally devoid of any information. Did Duncan write a new amazing tutorial? Can't tell. Need to click on him first. What is the point of having the cool blognames of "Maxed Out" or "Mayalicious", if your going to have a completely useless category like Software right next to it. Why not have the title of the last post, with the post count or something, so you can at least see if anything is new, instead of software title category. Extraneous !!! Painful Navigation. Now, I am no web designer to be sure, but I know... I know that it was your goal to improve navigation. So I'm just letting you know, wherever you got your ideas from, your not moving you in the right direction. You need to minimize the clicks people perform to get to the information they want to see. And this is tough, because, we want to see multiple categories of software, ideas and tutorials. But like I say, this was in particular, a move in the wrong direction. 2009-11-18T15:09:44+01:00 After many years, "Search" function still doesn't work!! http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3d-general/area-website-support-forum/after-many-years-search-function-still-doesnt-work/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3d-general/area-website-support-forum/after-many-years-search-function-still-doesnt-work/page-last/#When:21:41:28Z Rant on: Rant one: why doesn't search function work? I complained about this years ago when the area first opened. Example: Go to the 3Ds Max forum, type "fur" in the search field... wait... wait... NOTHING! Now type "hair"... wait... wait... LOTS OF HITS! Now look at the headers in those search results.... How many times do you see the word "fur" in the headers??? Rant two: Why is the search box at the top of the page in major sections and at the bottom of the page in topic sections? Is Autodesk intent on ignoring ALL UI conventions, or are they just doing that in 2010 Design? Now I remember why I rarely come here looking for answers. Rant off. Graham PS. My apologies to all the hard working people who put so much effort into answering questions. You guys rock. It's the frustration I get coming here looking for question topics that I know must already be answered that makes me crazy! 2009-11-13T21:41:28+01:00 movie gallery http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3d-general/area-website-support-forum/movie-gallery/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3d-general/area-website-support-forum/movie-gallery/page-last/#When:18:17:44Z Pls let me know how I could add my videos to the movie gallery? 2009-11-13T18:17:44+01:00 Can't create new threads http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3d-general/area-website-support-forum/cant-create-new-threads/page-last/ http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3d-general/area-website-support-forum/cant-create-new-threads/page-last/#When:16:15:33Z User can reply (full reply or comment) but cannot create a new thread - no "New Topic" button.
