Nice feature - I like it - but…

Both the Max and Maya areas have identically named forums, so clicking View New Posts displays (for example) 2 new posts in “modeling” but there’s no way to tell which “modeling” forum they are in.

Would it be possible to rename these forums to “Max Modeling” and “Maya Modeling” respectively? This would apply to all the other “duplicated” forums as well. An easy “fix” (no coding required) which will make the area considerably more usable.

Max 4.2 through 2012 (SP2+SAP).
XP-64 (SP2)
NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX9.0c.

Yes, I like this feature too. Duplicate forum names are confusing. I saw Wade’s reply in Maya Modeling forum. I think he may have posted there by mistake unless Maya also uses “Move Transform Type-In” dialog.

They need to be filtered also by what application you’re using. I am a Max user, and I could care less about what new posts are for Maya. I don’t see how that functionality was not put in place to begin with.

Perhaps the “View New Posts” page could be sectionalised like the main discussion page is
3D General
post
post
Max
post
Maya
post
post
Motion Builder
post

etc

This, of course, means a complete revamp of the code which produces that page. Renaming the forums so that we can at least see which section they are in would be a low cost compromise.

Another question: When I click “view new posts”, I suspect I’m only getting the posts that have been created since my last visit (assuming I clicked “mark all posts read” on last visit). What about all the new “replies” to threads/msgs? Are they included? I’m guessing not.

If not, how do you find these?

I like Steve’s idea of listing new messages in chunks to separate Maya and Max. Also, I think the word “Autodesk” in front of Maya and Max is a bit redundant. This is afterall an Autodesk site.

Hi Wade, wasn’t picking on you. I almost did the same thing. :) There is no way to tell whether some of the messages are for Maya or Max when listing new messages.
