So I’m doing renders for my final proejct this semester...i’m in charge of our renders and have been trying to figure this program out over the last 3months, had done a bit of work with VIZ last year, so I think these turned out quite well considering I learnt 3DS max 2009 in a short period of time...anyways
these are my renders, i’m using 3DS max 2009 64bit and Mental Ray.
If you could tear these up tell me which things look wrong/what I should change or add in, tips on how to make them look better, anything really to help me make them look better would be great....let out your anger on my renders :) haha.
Thanks everyone!
greatly appreciated.

The exterior rendering seems too dark, even for at night. The grass underneath the light post could use some work (shorten it, maybe add a better color of green). And the grass close to the camera needs more than just a texture. The building design’s good and the way the interior is illuminated. The ground around the base of the building’s too reflective.
The first interior rendering is really good. The lighting along the ceiling seems to be floating, and it’s leaving “hot spots” of light on the ceiling. I’m not saying to remove the hotspots; I’m just saying it’s too much. The monitor stands look under detailed. I like the wall color and the interior glass is great. The chairs look simple, but if that was the look you were going for, then great.
The last interior rendering looks good too. The floor texture’s great. Same thing with the lighting again. The grass outside the window is too obviously tiled. The way the left wall meets with the tile doesn’t seem right - maybe add a baseboard. Hope this helps.

In the first render, as stuffedincgmaya4life said, its too dark, and also the grass seem to be self illuminated...good modeling by the way, and i wonder how many polys does it contain..
in the second render, the lights in the ceiling seem to be floating, and they are illuminting the cieling, although these kinds of light only illuminate whats under them and not whats above them, texturing is pretty good, great architecture...i just noticed the monitors are not connected to a CPU (btw, there are some CPUs that can connect up to 10 monitors at the same time...these CPUs are pretty big...model these CPUs to save the number of polys of you want to model CPUs to the monitors...)
in the third render, same comment about the lights and their illumination, texturing is awesome, but i cant seem to know whats that green texture on the floor outside the window, if it is grass...it looks to fake, if it is some material, then its too tiled
i guess that’s it....but in general, the scenes are great!
Good luck!

Thanks...yeah I know that grass looks totally fake haha...its supposed to be Hair and Fur...but it didn’t render properely...I’ve got it working finally
as for the towers I don’t have time to do much more to the model...especially not create a tower for the computers, but yes I know I should…
as for the lights in the computer lab...they actually do reflect onto the ceiling as well as the ground...not sure how to lower the amount of light on the ceiling..but meh I think its ok...my model which was from Revit for some reason didn’t import the part of the light which connects to the ceiling..
thanks for the help guys...i’m gonna try and figure out how to fix them.
I know the sky in my night render is too dark..but if I lighten it up it looks like a sunrise almost..which im not sure i’m going for...even if I set my MrSky to 1am it still looks like sunrise so i took it totally out...might try and add in a night sky if possible.
thanks again
