“Eldar Scrolls” is not just the name of the series of games, but are (within the game) real scrolls which can be picked up and “read”.

The other references were literal - I haven’t played the ES games exclusively, hence the reference to Portal and to Half-Life (Black Mesa) being “diversions” away from playing the ES games, mostly Oblivion.
