I’ve learned how to use maya. is there any point to learn 3ds max? my goal is to go into gaming animation and I heard 3ds max is good for that. but I think maya can do just about everything.

I use 3ds max 2011 and always questioned the real difference between the two.  so far I understand the real difference between the two is that maya works on cpu while 3ds max can work with gpu which can display graphics faster.  i also understand that maya can handle more high reg models and scenes than 3ds max.  Of course to the new changes in 2012, I am not sure how 3ds max 2012 compares to maya.

I would guess you should look compare the two for yourself.  Also for myself, I like 3ds max node base set up too much to even consider Maya.
