Hey guys i have a quick question about 3ds max and maya.. Im about to start study and wanted to know can 3ds max create pixar/dreamworks quality animations i mean that type of animation such as that of toy story,cars,monsters inc and such as alot of places seem to use maya so just wondering can 3ds max produce the same kind or is it used more for photo-realistic work

the place im about to study at only does 3ds max and i was just wondering if they basically produce the same as im into the toony style like pixar and dreamworks style

Yes, Max can do that. The style of characters and scenes is down to the artist, you can make whatever you like.
You can experiment with different renderers, shaders and lighting to get the look you want.
