I Have the feeling Autodesk is pushing us to go towards Max Design,
there is practically no advertisement for the standard version. Am I the only one having this feeling?
I decided myself for the Standard max, but actually it depends from my employers, if they change the strategy in the next two weeks, who knows, maybe I’ll have to change the color as well.

I don’t know that I would buy that Autodesk is looking to push users solely to the Design flavor of Max. If that were the case, then they’d essentially be driving users to no longer develop plug-ins for the product as Max Design doesn’t come with the SDK, while Max does.

And knowing how important 3rd party plug-ins are to Max’s continued success, it would be hard for me to swallow that argument. So if your company is not planning on doing any custom plug-in programming, then Design is fine in my book. The only other difference between the two is that Design comes with the Lighting Analysis tool, while Max doesn’t. Otherwise, the two products are identical (splash screens not withstanding <g>).

Not sure if that clears things up, but hopefully you won’t feel you’re being pushed in one direction or another.

Clear or not it is already done Beau.
The Lightning analysis tool did the conversion, in the next 2 – 3 years we will go some more in this direction.
Actually my personal affinity towards Max Standard was purely sentimental, after so many years… :-)

Fair enough.

I am also partial to the Max Standard - I think it’s more due to not liking the Max Design icon than anything else honestly. :) I just don’t dig the big M logo.

Still haven’t seen it, but I usually go for my cup of tee during the loading.  :)
