Anyone have a HD TV and Blu-Ray player?
I should receive my new Sony HD TV tomorrow (didn’t buy it from Sony, paid 30% less than advertised on their site) and just picked up a LG BH200 (half the price it was) at Best Buy.
Looking forward to the enhanced viewing.
What kind of experience do others have with this sort of set up?

I really hadn’t thought about getting a HD TV, really cannot afford such a luxury (had a 27” Phillips CRT for 15 years),
but I got the bug last week and went for it.
I was looking at the display models in Best Buy while picking up the player and am pretty excited about it.
I don’t watch TV but do watch movies and will be trying to hook up to the computer for games too.

I have a Sharp 40-somthing inch HDTV and a Sharp blu ray player, and they are aweome.  Only prob is now you have to buy all new movies.  Makes old movies look better too.

Me too, I got netflix.  It’s like 10$ a month for 3 movies at a time, and you can switch them outt as many times a month you want.  They also have bluray.

By the time (normally, here in the US) you get my age (56) you will have more discretionary funds.

Don,

I have the Sharp Aquos HDTV and the PS3 - what I thought was the coolest thing was putting one of my photos as a background for the PS3 - wow - instant poster!!  Oh, you mean videos??  Just the upgrade from basic DVDs is an improvement.  Borrowed a few Blu-Ray discs from the neighbors, but I really can’t see a huge difference from regular DVDs.  I am using the HDMI connection from the PS3 to the HDTV.

Mike,
I’ll have to let you know about any differences once I get the set and hook up the player and get it calibrated,
as to whether I can see much difference.
The up conversion adds 4x the pixel information and the blu-ray has up to 5x (native?) information,
from what I have read, but not sure how this will affect my perception of the information.
