I’m just writing this now about my frustration with clients and even people in my office who love lens flares even if they have been used completely improperly.  Let me start off that I HATE lens flares with such a passion especially when my renderings are destroyed because someone who really has no idea and who has control of the project thinks they look dynamic, or they add “POP"(screw that idiotic corporate word).  My renderings have been altered in Photoshop/Corel without me knowing by the lead who isn’t even an illustrator.  Now my renderings have smears of white lines through the rendering and is being shown to the client, who will probably love it too!

What’s with all these people loving these damned things?  I hate them, I hate them, I hate!!!

This is just a rant I had to put out there and see if I’m alone on this.

Holy crap, i’m going through more of them right now and one of my renderings they have added 3 lens flares!!!!!!!!!!Why does this piss me off so much?

I’d rather be Autocrossing than sitting at a desk.

Agreed, it just drives me nuts how destroyed my renderings are now.  They might as well have a kid do these.  They altered the renderings in other ways too adding halo effects over all of the lights.  It reminds me actually of the last Star Trek movie.

maybe they can add some other efefcts to it like depth of field to it and blur the hell out of it all except for ummm...maybe 10% of the image?  but make sure to keep those “WONDERFUL” tinker bell lens flare effects sharp and as many as can be please!!!!  : )

Not quite sure what this has to do with Max2012 - I see no Max question let alone a 2012 specific one.

Feel free to rant if you like, but:-

a) Post rants like this in Off Topic where they belong (and to where this thread has been moved)
b) Mind your langauage. This is a professional site for professional users and there is no need to use such language in order to get your point across.

Sorry that was my mistake for placing it in the 2012, it was just that was what I use.  I should have had the title “How do I put 3 lens flares and lighting halos in my scenes but look realistic in 2012?”

What language are you referring to?  I don’t have any swearing in there.  This is actually quite tame for office language.  You should hear this place when something really goes wrong with the PM’s or the executives.

Unfortunately, I cannot put any images up because these are all concepts being developed and have not been released to the public.  There was a time a few years ago where the designers were placing a lens flare in every Solidworks rendering, and I asked them to stop and they did, however, those things just might be back.

Another funny thing that has been happening lately is the executives want ultra white materials.  Now these are on white backgrounds and I told them that something had to give if you wanted to differentiate from the object and the background.  They said no.  They wanted ultra white plastics with ultra white backgrounds but wanted to see a high contrast between them.  I just agreed and then changed the background so there would be more contrast.  Nothing was said to me afterwards so I think these people just talk to make them feel like they know what they are talking about.
