Question: Material Library 2012 + 3dsMax 2010

Totally work together.

No backwards compatibility.

Must make some patching/tweaking in order of them to work aside.

Hello everyone!
I recently installed 3dsMax 2012, but my hardware didn’t meet the requirements.
So I uninstalled everything but Material Library.
Now I’m downloading and about to install 3dsMax 2010.
So I was wondering if I could use Material Library 2012 with 3dsMax 2010.
I don’t even know the differences/changes between these two versions (of Material Library), but I guess the newer must come with more materials/textures, or better quality, etc.
Thanks for your replies!

This is clearly a Max question (NOT a poll...) so I’m not quite sure why you chose to post it in Off Topic.

If you’re referring to the the default 3dsmax.mat library then they are the same in both versions so there’s no point keeping the one from 2012. For any of the others you would have to try them. Just don’t overwite the 2010 ones in case you find a problem.

I should also point out that if you’re currently downloading 2010 then it’s not from Autodesk and is therefore likely to be a ripoff and potentially full of viruses. It will also be a time limited trial (unlicensed).
