The Space Pilot to me is ok, but pretty much a novelty which I could easily do without, having established my own work flow over the years with shortcuts,
so I can easily highlight an object, hit the keyboard shortcut and rotate around the object.
I can achieve some extra functionality using both hands and without any real difficulty but I can easily do without it.
I’m the kind of guy who has to have something before I will believe I can do without it…
:)
I do reserve the right to get excited about it if I want to,though…
:)
I’m not at the “can’t-do-without-it” point with my SpaceExplorer either. I think it’s really great, but it’s not perfect. Actually, I have problems with all of these add-on devices, including the Wacom tablet. They are good at one thing and assume that everyone has the same needs. My problem is that they don’t make these devices flexible enough for me to rearrange them in a manner that would suit my needs. Wacom doesn’t take under consideration that people still need to use the keyboards. What else can I do but to push my keyboard away from my tablet? 3D Connexion people, on the other hand, assume that I use a mouse with keyboard placed between my SE and the mouse. Well, I don’t use the mouse anymore. Both companies give very little thought to keyboard placement. I think it would be great if they could come up with keyboard design that can be modular/mobile and work well together with either tablet or 3d mouse.
This is thinking in the right direction, but it still takes up space that is too rigid and has limited number of keys.

and all the add-ons.
I feel weird, but recently ff3 got me thinking so i tried add-ons. They were very easy to find and install.
I managed to reconstruct most of the supremeness that is k-meleon. I really like ff3 now :) Base is lacking, but with all the extensions, its likely to even surpass my favorite :)
Just want to bookmark the site and it says 32-bit only?
That would be a problem…
K-meleon? Yes its 32bit only afaik. But it works flawlessly on my win xp x64.
It baffles me that they would continue to release new versions with this archaic method for organizing bookmarks.
Just to sneak in another word of praise for k-meleon. It integrates opera hotlinks, netscape bookmarks and IE favorites. You can share them across all applications or use them separately. You can create many user accounts and you can use built in “agent” to fool older sites into thinking that you are using a particular version of the mentioned programs including firefox and seamonkey.
The way it saves sessions and manages them across all the different users… You could have stuff you’re reasarching categorized in one profile with multiple bookmarks and saved sessions of lots of tabas…. I just didn’t find such versatility anywhere else. Maybe ff3 has it, but I didn’t find it briefly looking for it, and in k-meleon i found it even though i didn’t knew it exists. It has such a simple and deep interface… Yeah.. you get it. I love it :)
******
One thing that I really like in ff3 is spellchecking. Very useful when I’m writing in english.

I’m using mine (Space Pilot) now for creating low poly asteroids and after optimizing, moving in the pointed areas.
I can use the mouse to select vertices and then rotate around the model with the other hand using the SP.
Definitely saves on mousing and getting each area into view.

OT: FireFox
This is getting kind of confusing, I know…
FireFox can bookmark all opened tabs and also has a setting to open all tabs that were open when closing.
I like this and use it as the standard.

That’s what I do with SE (SpaceExplorer) and my Wacom tablet. Navigate with my left-hand, and model with my right hand. My problem is the keyboard placement. My Intuos is right in front of me and SE on its left, and in the mean time, my keyboard is at the far end of my Intuos. So, if want to type-in something, it’s not fun. :(

I have my SP up on the main desk (about four inches above the keyboard) and reach up with left hand and keep the keyboard and mouse on the drawer in front of me.

That won’t work for me. My Intuos tablet is as almost wide as my keyboard, and I need to have them all at the same level to be able to use them at the same time.

Sorry.
Way back, I had to have a tablet and (of course) bought the 12x12 Wacom.
I never got any use out of it and finally gave it away to someone who actually uses it.

No need to be sorry Don. I found a thread to gripe about it, so it’s perfect. :cheese:
