We all know why autodesk gives cat away for free. It sucks. I am one of suckers that actually paid 800 plus for this usless plug in when it was wtih softimage. Softimage the customer abusers that they are.

I feel Autodesk should post a update to CAT that fixes all the issuse the CAT says it can do or just drop it from their free product line because it just does not meet the standards of the other autodesk products.

that happens when you mix gold (softimage products) with patchwork (autodesk products), CAT works just fine, its 3ds max integration and crashes and bug that is horrifing.

Hmm funny I dont seem to have issues like I am having with other plug ins with Max like i do with CAT.  Also would like to add CAT is performing much better since Autodesk aquired it.
Since autodesk took over CAT we now have a manual to use. Softimage never even put one out they had that wiki thing that was so outdated. Yes softimage fools gold.

CAT does not work just fine, CAT is a good idea, that’s still in it’s alpha near beta stages. There’s so many tricky things in CAT, that it’s easier to break it, then to have guarantees it will work out just fine. CAT has a serious shoulder solving problem with IK, let alone the clunky maxscript implementation, with almost no error checking, resulting in lots of errors showing up when trying to do more then just a basic animation.

We do use it, it has value, it’s better then biped for us, but I would really like to see some proper TLC from the developers, but to say CAT works just fine, that’s not true, but it also doesn’t suck.

to langdon maybe you didnt know but cat was a plugin for max and only for max. long before softimage purchased it. it was always intended to work with max. the problem seems to be with the autodesk policy of releasing a new version of software every year. when its really not ready to be released. personally I rarely ran into problems with the versions before 3 which is before the softimage purchase
