| im looking for pipeline for procedural walk cycle + keyfram\pose "overs"
|

hi,
im looking for pipeline for procedural walk cycle + keyfram\pose “overs” ;)
that mean i want to create a procedural walking (on motion layer)(i animate dummy witch is a target for rig) and for upper body i want to create a keyframe animation on abs layer and mix all together.
cat is so great tool for that kind of imo complex animation but i have a few problems with that pipeline.
1st question is: did you get the idea of this pipeline:)? i animate legs by dummy (procedural walkcycle on target) and i add keys on 2nd layer and blend that layers together. maybe you have tips\tricks for that kind of animation? is it the fastest way to get the results?
2nd question is: can i animate the “local weight” parameter for both legs on the one graph???(i want to animate this parameter for both legs on the same time, on one curve editor) its the biggest problem to me for now. its so time consuming that i have to tweak\create fade in\fade out on both legs seperately :(.
thx
good night
sorry for my english:o

the legs already have platforms, you dont need the dummy. but if you want the entire rig to move you could use the tranform gizmo to get the forward motion then animate every thing else seperately. each leg is independent of the other. I dont see you using one graph for both. you could also link the tranform gizmo to a dummy.

that is misunderstanding, probably my languege is not good enought.
i just want to blend “pose to pose” on one, abs. layer with walking on motionlayer. and i wish to heve an aditional “local weight” slider for 2 legs. one slider>2 legs. taaadaaaam.

I have made a screenshot, maybe it shows better what i was trying to say.
On the curve editor we can see
1) “walking (motion layer 100%)”
2) “switching between layers (leg get a pose from abs. layer)”
3) “standing (abs. layer 100%)”
4) “switching between layers” and walking again (motion layer 100%)
uffff. that is for one leg! now i must do this again for another leg.
is there any easier way to make “walking-stopping-stop-start to walk-walking” animation?
i dont want to make walking animations by hand, but switching between layers is...complicated ;/
so im confused :P any advices?

you dont need the graph editor at all for that. just blending between the layers normally. once you go to a 100 percent. it overides the layer above it. after you stop walking. you will need another catmotion layer or take the absolute layer from 100 to 0
switching between layers is easy actually.

yes, but only curves give me the...precision and option to offset in time the moment of blending.
btw nice video :)

well I cant argue with that. but one of the main benefits of cat for me. is not having to use the graph editor as much, as I would. otherwise

once you go to a 100 percent. it overides the layer above it.
That is a point worth you noting. It looks as if you are animating one layer down as you animate the next one up. There is no need to do that, you are making unnecessary work for yourself.
