looks like Autodesk is really screwing the system up with these.
It use to give an accurate description of how many seats the license had. Now all my licenses say “seats: 00”
Nice, so I have license to install no copies of each license?

After calling I found that I am suppose to be using the group ID. I always just used the serial number, which previously worked, but they told me I am suppose to use the subscription ID. Who knew?

I’m not installing yet, waiting for a vray service pack I think. Plus, we’re in the middle of some projects until December. I’ll install near the end. Hopefully they’ll have SP1 out by then and I can jump straight to that.

It seems like Autodesk has some basic database problems. I hope they figure them out some time soon. These kinds of problems are really beginning to be annoying.

Well, to add to the chorus, I’m having the exact same problems when trying to register 3ds Max 2008.

When I enter the serial number (same as group ID for me) that I’ve had for years, which is idiotically inexplicably printed twice on the FedEx packaging, I get the same nutty error:

The serial number you entered is not valid. Try again. (Error 2)

I filled out the customer service form with my information, although there was never a freeform text entry or even a multiple choice entry pulldown to explain the problem.  Perhaps Autodesk will get back to me in a couple of days like the canned response said, although they may not even know what my question was.

To add to the blank canvas that is the registration process, when I went to https://registeronce.autodesk.com and began to complete the registration process there, incredibly, 3ds Max 2008 is not even a possible choice to pick from the product selection pulldown, so it is quite impossible to continue.

Clearly, Autodesk is having some significant problems with the product shipping out to customers before their servers are even ready to register them.  Unbelievable…

One more thing… the label on the back of the DVD case also says “Seats: 000”.

I wonder if a lot of the labels just didn’t print correctly?

I know it’s frustrating, it sounds like the trouble I had early on.
But, maybe it’s a little consolation that it will clear up.
Maybe because it’s an upgrade that it says “seats 000”, mine says the same thing and after they got my registration page updated everything was fine. Not sure why you are still having problems, I had assumed that once it was up and running for registrations everyone would would be able to register. Think I’d call them if I were in a hurry (thankfully, the program runs for 30 days with no problems) or I’m sure they will get back to you through the form.

I’m pleased to report that Autodesk responded within a couple of hours via e-mail to the manual authorization request and that the application is now up and running.

They still need to fix their web servers, but at least there is still someone minding the shop.

Thanks all!
