If I got Max 2008 would XP or Vista be more suitable please?  BTW I appreciate your responses :)

Peace.

I’d feel safer if some one else came to give their opinion on this, I’m a novas at best.

You were a big help.

Peace

lol, thats good.  My field of knowledge is more in the gaming and music world.  I love working with 3Ds max, but I’m no where near as informed as some of the people here are, which I find amazing.  It takes smart people to do the stuff they do.

I hope you find just what you’re looking for, and everything works our great. =]

Thank you for your invaluable information!!! Your specs look like quite some system.  Why did you choose not to stay with XP and get a 64 bit to upgrade as some folks are suggesting to allow 4GB?

Are you not concerned about the performance of 3ds Max and Vista?  I am using this new computer primarily for 3ds Max, are you using the computer for things primarily for 3d modeling or for something else?

I hope my questions are not to inquisitive I simply need to know, I am scarred to be stuck with something buggy like Vista, yet I don’t like the idea of buying a new computer with an old OS.  the new XP SP3 is coming out soon.

Peace

I decided to not stay with xp because the parts I bought are vista ready, so the whole driver freak out that some people were having, I sorta let pass. Also, It may be the first generation vista and it may be buggy to some, but just like windows xp is getting service packs, so will vista and I don’t think Microsoft will just let Vista and all the people who have bought it see it die.

I think you’ll be in good hands. If you go with xp 64, that’s a safe route, but I want to be future ready :)

I intend on using this system primarily for 3d modeling and animation. I will be creating 3d scenes in movie quality which I hope once completed, the technology for the latest games will eventually be able to handle my movie quality 3d models with high res textures. I’m thinking big and I intend to accomplish my goals.

You have a wonderful positive attitude.  That is a good thing.  Your forward thinking is commendable.  I have pretty much just used Gateway computers, but for this next computer purchase I have to buy a Dell, so I don’t want to have this as our main computer but one as an interim, so that is why I don’t want to invest in some great big ole computer, as I am not comfortable with Dell yet.  In 1 year we intend to invest in a solid computer.

Thank you so very much for your kind responses...kabate...as they say in Japanese.

Peace.

Want to hear something funny? All my computers up until this monster I will be creating have all been premade fully loaded Gateways as well. I decided to go with making my own so the cost would be cheaper and I would know all the items going into it would be higher quality.

and sadly Gateway nor Dell offer 64 bit OS’s on their machine per deployment.
