Hello all…

I am running 3dsmax 9 with Brazil on Windows7 Home Premium 64bit. Runs great!

My problem/question is…

I do a lot of renders of NASCAR cup and Nationwide cars for various sites. When I open up a scene and the car is there, I will also “merge” another car into it for a 2 car scene. Now, if one of the cars is not right, I want to use the “Arc” tool on it, but when I do “BOTH” cars move. I have tried the arc tool for selected items, that car is selected but have the same results. BOTH cars move. I just want to be able to arc one car not both.

My question is, how do I get just “one” of the cars to “arc” move instead of both of them?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks loads!!!

Scott

Do you mean the Arc Rotate tool? This is a view changing tool, it does not move or rotate anything at all in the scene. It is rotating your point of view. So all objects in the scene will always appear to rotate relative to the view.
To rotate just one object, use Select and Rotate.

Yes, I did mean the Arc Rotate tool. Sorry about that.

I understand what you are saying. But if I use the option to “Select” and “Rotate” one of the cars, the ground plane underneath the car will not rotate with it, it stays the same. In other words a couple of the wheels will be off the ground while the others will appear to be “buried” in the ground when the render is finished. The car moves but the ground plane under the car doesn’t causing this to happen.

Any suggestions on how to get the ground plane to move along with that selected car?

Any help would be greatly appreciated once again.
Thanks guys(and gals)!!!

Scott

You will need to select the objects you with to rotate and then rotate them together. You may need to select Use Selection Center depending on the results your after.

Scott, I think it would be very helpful if you posted some screen shots of what you are working with, and what you are trying to do.  It still isn’t entirely clear to me what your problem is.
