| AutoGrid Problem 64bit 3ds Max
|
|
|
Hey All,
I’m new to 3ds max and new to this forum. I hope someone can help.
My System:
Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate
3.5Gig Processor (Dual Core)
4 gig of RAM
EVGA Nvidia 8800GTS 640Meg
3ds Max 2008 64bit Trial
Problem:
Auto grid does not function correctly in 64bit mode, it does not snap around the object. I’m sure its something i’m doing wrong, however It works fine for me in 32bit mode.
Heres a link including a small video of the problem:

I switched to Directx 9 from Directx 10 and it fixed the problem.
Are there any solutions to directx 10 issues?
Thanks!

Simple answer is no - it works fine fine with DX9 so use that for the time being. This thread has a little more detail.
Max 4.2 through 2013.
XP-64 (SP2)
NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX9.0c.

Works fine here with DirectX 9 and 64 bit, see video.

Looks like the Screencast servers may be taking a hit with their free hosting.
Whoops, my bad, thought you said you switched TO DirectX 10 FROM DirectX 9, sorry.
Doesn’t work in DirectX 10 here, either.

Yes, it’s DirectX 10 that isn’t working properly.

There does seem to be a problem with autogrid on Max 2008 64bit.
It works fine on newly created objects (say box), but when it is converted to editable poly and then any vertex is moved autogrid doesn’t stick to faces anymore. To reactivate it this edited object has to be converted to editable poly once more.

The link in the 1st post isn’t working so I can’t see the problem. I did try creating a box (several segments in each axis), converted to EP, moved stuff around then tried Autogrid. It worked as I would expect it to.

This occured not only on 64bit system, but also on 32bit system,
but chainging DX10 to DX9 was a good solution for me anyway.
