Need Help Please,

I have a part that was Boolean and need to put a face on the object or make the object solid.

On the part. I did a cut-away and want to put a hole in the part.

I select the part and place a cylinder half on the splice and the other thru the bottom of the part.
When to Boolean and it looks like only the skin of the part, because you can see thru the object were it was Boolean.
How can I fix this problem?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY,

The file is attached, check the booleaning operation and note the results.
All the holes look transparent,
Is there a way to make the object solid, like IRON or STEEL.

THANKS AGAIN

Care to zip up the file and post it?
I don’t think I know exactly what you are talking about but my first guess would be you have a face on one side but it’s showing as an opening on another?
One way to counter this is to put a double-sided material on those faces/your object.

Hmmm, yeah, lots of errors there.
Did you keep any progressive saves so you can go back, maybe before doing any Booleans?
Which Boolean operator did you use PowerBoolean or Max Standard?

I guess I’d recommend you rebuild the model from scratch and keep progressive stages saved. I rebuilt (kind of, partially, not even near precision to your specs) the model and didn’t perform any of the boolean operations until I had completely finished creating/placing all the cutting objects, saved that with a Pre-boolean name, then saved it with a Post-boolean name and ran the Booleans.
At least that way you can do any adjustments that the undo buffer may fail to keep.
If interested I can post either or both of the Max 2008 files.
Oh, I used the ProBoolean operator and though I did have one object that needed adjusting after I was done, I determined which one it was (in PowerNURBS this is easy, the object gets highlighted and you don’t have to remove it but can edit it right inside the completed Boolean) removed it,moved it into better position, then ran the Boolean again with that object in it’s new position.
