Bridge does not want to work

I am making the wheel arches for my car i attach the 2 arches for the car and attach them and convert them down to a poly I have selected the 5 edges on each side so i can bridge them together But when i select the bridge tool it does not work Nothing happens at all I can select the square thats fine.

I have attach the file this is in max 8 this is for a client.

Looking at the right-hand of the 2 elements, the lower left (vertical) edge is in fact 4 edges. Area select the vertices around it (8 of them) and Weld, then the Bridge will work.



Max 4.2 through 2013.
XP-64 (SP2)
NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX9.0c.

I am not sure how you created this shape but you have alot of duplicated edges which is affecting the Bridge Tool. Check my attached file to show how to resolve this.
