Importing a big file over 3mb takes a very long time to import.

The file was exported from “Valve hammer editor”

However when it does ever complete its all good, nothing is disorted, turns out how i want it to be.
Is it supposed to take this long?
I have basic geometry low low poly but thousands of objects.

Running a Pentium4 3ghz, 2gb ram.

6 hours does seem extreme, but when my advanced class was importing DWG files from the county’s engineering department, they were taking 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. They soon discovered that it was possible to only import those layers which were needed.

Importing with Weld Vertices on takes longer, if I remember correctly.

Once the import completes, i am stuck with three copies of the same object!
Selecting everything, delete, then re-import (this time it goes super fast) corrects all problems.

I still dont get why it takes so long :(
Im going to assume the “valve hammer editor” exports improperly.
