Even though I try to make a box to the right, it starts in the middle.  This is happening with everything, even my camera.  Anyone know why there is a black hole in the center of my grid?

Sounds like you modified the default Position controller.

Create a temporary box, with it selected go to the Motion tab of the Command Panel.
Expand the Assign Controller rollout and highlight the Position entry.
Click the “?” button (assign controller), select “Position XYZ” in the list and click the “Make Default” button (and agree to the pop-up prompt), then click OK.

Was about to add that I was messing with constraints and the motion panel, but seeing how you’re a GENIUS and already know that somehow, I guess I don’t need to.  Any idea what the option was that caused this so I don’t click it again?

Make Default.

This happens quite often. But Steve is a bit psychic.

Yep - it’s that Make Default button - it’s large, friendly and very very tempting despite the rather large warning which pops up when you use it ;)

Genius? no - psychic? maybe :)
Or just possibly this has happened before to other folks and I remember reading the fix here - posted by one Tim Wilbers if I’m not very much mistaken :D

Whether genius or psychic, thanks for solving my problem.  And what can I say?  That warning bar was pretty tempting…
