Hi Guys and girls
I am wondering why max over-rights the same autback file over and over again? Example say you make a small scene and you save it you try and open perious and the file cannot be open you can go to the autoback document and find the file you want to open. but with my 3ds max when you open the autoback i find that max over-rights the files over and over again with the new scene is there anyway to stop max over-righting them?

Customize...Preferences...Files...Auto Backup. Increase the number and change to incremental saves. That is the only thing I have found to work.

Don’t rely on Autoback. Use File > SaveAs and hit the “+” button (incremental save) and use it regularly instead of just saving over the existing scene.
Max 4.2 through 2013.
XP-64 (SP2)
NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX9.0c.

To save you in case you “forgot” to save recently.
But you knew that too…now back to our regular scheduled program.

You’ll really appreciate autobak if a master file gets corrupted.
ALWAYS have auto-save on.
