could someone help me identify why i might have recieved this error. it has happened mor then once.
“mental ray has encountered a fatal error and the application will now shut down. The error is : MEM0.0 fatal 031008 : cant allocate 1236600 bites”
what could cause this.
it is a farily small scene- exported from Revit to a Cad file then linked into max. (which really doesnt work right anyways, it wont let me update the link when changes have been made in revit and re-exported into cad). it has some RPC and some bionatics trees in the scene.
i am going to post another request about revit to max issues if you would like to respond to that.
thanks

i believe this is a memory issue

thats what i was thinking. it renders fine some times and then other times i get this error?
is there a memory leak i should be aware of? is there a way to clear the memory just before rendering?

In the processing tab of rendering setup window we should use all memory available or at least half of it, in memory limit box
By default is 650 mb that I changed it to 20000 mb and it works perfect, my computer can setup to 65536 mb which is 64X1024 mb that is the max for my computer which is 64 bit and 32 bit version of max 2009 should only support 3072 mb which is 3X1024 mb
